Products and raw materials
One of the best examples of refining wood is the modern Finnish wood fibre insulation VITAL. It has unique qualities that add the quality of construction and living.
Safe and sustainable choices
The breathing Vital insulation is a safe and healthy option for modern construction and living. It is a clean, environmentally friendly product that also suits well for people with allergies, since the product is manufactured from pure natural raw materials. Vital is an insulation that builds a healthy home.
Compact and naturally breathing
A house built correctly is compact and breathing at the same time, and there is no unpleasant draft. Breathing constructions are penetrated by carbon dioxide, oxygen, and moisture. According to the bulletin no. 1991 published by VTT Technical Research Centre of Finland, "breathing" constructions have a significant effect on the quality of indoor air. VITAL wood fibre insulation works without damp proofing plastic and thus enables constructions to breathe naturally. The compactness of the structure is ensured with airproofing.
The VITAL insulation will not create a so-called "bottle phenomenon," but the structures are breathing yet compact:
- binds and releases moisture, thus preserving good heat insulation properties
- enables damp proof-less structures
- lets carbon dioxide, oxygen and moisture penetrate
- balances the moisture variations in indoor air
- More information about the operation of heat and agent transfer technique of wood fibre structures is given in the VTT bulletin no. 1946.

Raw materials
The VITAL insulation is manufactured from wood-based, oxygen-whitewashed, and bacteria-free pulp fibres, heat fibres, cellulose-based glue, and the pH neutral protection agent producing both fire endurance and biological protection. The protection agent is added to the product in liquid form, as a neutral solution, so that it is absorbed evenly to the entire insulation mass.
The raw materials used in VITAL insulations are familiar to most people and ecological compared to the products already on the market. For example, pulp is used in baby diapers and the protection agent includes some of the same components that are used e.g. in micronutrients and medicines. Thanks to the Vital Protect protection agent, the Vital insulations have e.g. excellent mould and fire endurance properties.
